Our Founding

In 2015, Chennai was severely affected by flood. Millions of people were stranded without power, water & food. Even though we had a home & a comfortable living we were brought down to streets in a single day. We were involved in the rescue mission to help stranded people. At that time, we noticed a house powered by solar gave shelter to the people in that locality. That was the time we realized our homes were just concrete shells when it could have been much more. If one house powered using solar can save a locality how much good can be done if every house is powered using solar?

Not just that, after 8 months of flood some of the borewells in Chennai got dried. It made us to think deep, what happen to all that millions & millions of litres of water. Why didn’t we save them? At this rate what will happen to our future? That’s when we started researching more on eco-friendly & sustainable homes.

Early Growth

In the mid of 2016, Cityrene was incubated by the Founder institute, a well renowned global incubator of startups.

Transformation began there, at every point the idea was pivoted and refined. A well-established group of local and global mentors, most of them are Founders and CEO’s began to test the financial model, market size and viability of the company. And within a short span of time of 4 months, the company Cityrene was not just an idea it was incorporated as a private limited company and became one of the best construction company in Chennai with senior board of directors and a well experienced team of advisors.

Cityrene uses some of the unique “think out of the box” techniques to build luxury living spaces and communities with state of the art architectural multi-purpose design which other construction companies in Chennai didn’t offer.

Seed Funding

Cityrene got it’s first seed funding from Maxblox through Founder Institute. We have created an augmented reality mobile app which can help our customers see their project status, stage of completion, 3D model & much more.

Being one of the top construction companies in Chennai,we have begun our journey of sustainable housing by building an apartment with 5 flats in it. This apartment has been built with eco-friendly Australian technology GFRG (Glass Fiber Reinforced Gypsum).This house is of three stories and designed by IITM for earthquake resistance.

What does the name "Cityrene" mean?

Cityrene is a combination of “City” & “Serene”. Our idea of forming this company is to build smart, calm & serene houses in busy cities.
